Private / Commercial Testing

The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Immunology offers a private testing service. Our customers include private clinics and hospitals, commercial laboratories, public sector departments and private companies.

There are a wide variety of services available. The current services provided include:

• routine health checks
• allergy testing
• fertility testing
• trace element testing - the trace element laboratory provides a comprehensive analytical and clinical advisory service for a range of specialist tests of trace element status in a range of body fluids including plasma, serum, whole blood, urine, other fluids and tissue.
• individual specific tests requested through private healthcare.

Tests are available on an individual basis, or as a package.

Information for Patients

These laboratory services cannot be accessed directly by patients or individual members of the public - a referral from a GP or specialist doctor is required (depending upon the condition involved). If you have any questions about the private services available and how these can be accessed by you or your family, please contact your GP to discuss.
