Responsibility for health and wellbeing at work belongs to both employers and employees. As a manager you have a duty to ensure that work does not make your team ill. Understanding how to spot the signs of stress in your team, and then know what to do to reduce stress, will help you achieve this.
The relationship between line managers and their teams is a key factor in determining whether staff will have a positive or negative experience in work - the single most important thing you can do is to listen.

Use the UHB's  Stress Risk Assessment Form to establish what control measures are currently in place and what additional measures can be introduced to ensure that the risks are reduced to an acceptable level.
This form should be used as an aid when staff have either indicated to their manager that they feel stressed or have been absent from work as a result of work related stress.

Wellness Action Plans (WAPs) are an easy, practical, way of helping you to support your own mental health at work, and if you are a manager, helping you to support the mental health of your team members.  
Writing a wellness action plan is entirely optional.   The UHB supports employees who may find a wellness action plan helpful.
