The Audiology Department for Cardiff and the Vale UHB, also offers specialist Paediatric Services.
The Paediatric Audiology department is located in Penguin Outpatients in the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales at the University Hospital for Wales (UHW). A number of community clinics are also held in various sites, your child may be seen in the community setting first.
Babies, Children and Young People from across Cardiff and the Vale are seen, and monitored when there are concerns regarding hearing or a known hearing issue. The service is run by a dedicated team of Audiologists who have specialist training and a passion for assessing hearing and managing hearing loss in children.
Referrals are accepted from any health professional who is concerned about a child’s hearing. If a parent is concerned we would ask them to contact their GP or Health Visitor for a referral to be made. We are also happy to see children who have previously been under the care of the department within the last 12 months if there are parental concerns.

The helpline/telephone lines can be very busy at times. If you are unable to get through please email or text us with a contact number, name and date of birth and we will endeavour to contact you back as soon as possible.
If you child is found to have a hearing loss, hearing aids may be advised. Hearing loss in children can be temporary or permanent. We will determine the nature of the hearing loss, and if necessary refer onto appropriate professionals.
