Based on scientific modelling and predicted numbers from Welsh Government colleagues and local intelligence, the Health Board will need to provide 600 additional beds to accommodate predicted capacity.
At the start of the pandemic, we already created an additional 200 beds across our UHW site, University Hospital Llandough (UHL) and Barry Hospital to accommodate capacity. Therefore, the UHW Lakeside Wing only needs to provide 400 beds to meet the requirement as outlined by the data.
