Any member of Cardiff & Vale UHB staff can self refer into the staff dietetic service.

Healthy Eating

These are a series of one-off healthy eating education sessions for staff. They will cover different topics throughout the year and sessions will last between 1 hour 15 mins to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Weight Management

Eating for Life programme

This is a structured 8 week group education programme for those trying to lose weight.  This is a group especially for UHB staff.

If you are unable to attend the group sessions or would prefer to speak to the dietitian in a one to one clinic for support with your weight clinics are available within occupational health.

Diabetes

Diabetes Awareness Session (DAS)

This is a one off, 2 hour taster session for UHB staff, to provide first line information about self managing your diabetes. This can then lead onto a referral to the X-PERT diabetes programme if you wish to learn more.  Please contact the Dietetic Service for dates of forthcoming sessions.

X-PERT Diabetes

This is a structured 6 week group education programme designed to help you live day to day with your type 2 diabetes. This is currently a mixed group with the general public and UHB staff. You do not need to attend the Diabetes awareness session to attend X-PERT.

Clinic consultations

One to One Clinic

If you have any other health related problems that could be improved through dietetic support eg IBS, coeliac disease, a specific micro nutrient deficiency or other condition, the Occupational Health service or yourself will be able to refer you into the dietetic staff clinic.

How to access the staff Dietetic Service

Staff can self refer into any of the group programmes or into the staff clinic by completing the referral form or by contacting the dietetic department by email, phone or letter to register interest. See contact details below.

The Occupational Health nurses and Physiotherapists can also complete a referral form for you.

As with all assessments undertaken by Occupational Health, the dietetic assessment is strictly confidential. If you have been referred by a health care professional letters will be sent back to the referrer advising them of you attendance at groups or one to one appointments.
