“The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act gives us the ambition, permission and legal obligation to improve our social, cultural, environmental and economic well-being.”
The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act is one that requires public bodies in Wales to reflect upon the long-term impacts of the decisions that they make, to work better with people, communities and each other, and to prevent persistent problems such as poverty, health inequalities and climate change.
This Act is unique to Wales, it attracts interest from many countries across the world due to the fact that it offers a huge opportunity to make a long-lasting, positive change to current and future generations.
There are 44 public bodies in Wales, including Cardiff and Vale UHB, affected by the Act, all of which are audited on the steps they take towards achieving what it mandates.
As a Health Board, we are guided by our ten-year strategy, Shaping Our Future Wellbeing. This document contains ten strategic objectives which underpin the work which we undertake in implementing the Act as they closely align to its seven goals and ways of working. They are as below:
· A Prosperous Wales
· A Resilient Wales
· A Healthier Wales
· A More Equal Wales
· A Wales of Cohesive Communities
· A Wales of Vibrant Culture and Thriving Welsh Language
· A Globally Responsible Wales
