Emergency contraception can be used up to 120 hours after unprotected sex (no contraception) or contraception failure (split condom). You may be offered a copper intrauterine device (IUD or copper coil) or oral tablet, depending on your preferences. The healthcare professional can advise you on which is the best time of emergency contraception for you.
