General Practice Nurse

General practice nurses work within GP practices and are part of the primary care team. You would visit your general practice nurse for wound care, contraception advice and reviews, immunisations, blood monitoring and chronic illness reviews, such as asthma and diabetes.

Each member of the primary care team has skills and expertise in different areas, enabling you to get the right support from the right healthcare professional first time. Your GP receptionist may book you an appointment with your general practice nurse if they are best suited to your healthcare needs.

Loren is a general practice nurse in Cardiff. She has been a qualified nurse for three and a half years and entered primary care almost two years ago after joining the GPN Foundation Programme.
