Help with Travel and Transport Expenses

Normally, you are expected to make your own way into hospital. If you need an ambulance, the process is as follows.

New Patients: when you respond to your letter inviting you to make an appointment, please indicate that you will require an ambulance.  You will then be given the number to ring to arrange this yourself.

Follow Up Patients: if you require an ambulance for your follow up appointment, this will be booked at the clinic by the clinic co-ordinator.

If you receive Family Credit, Income Support, have a low income or claim certain other benefits, you may be eligible for help towards your travelling costs when you come into hospital. If you think you may be entitled to claim part or all of your expenses, please refer to the Guidelines for Travel Expenses. The Cashiers' Offices, located across the UHB sites, will reimburse the travelling costs.
