Parking

Where can I park?

Patients and visitors must park in designated patient and visitor car parking spaces between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. These car parks are clearly identified by blue signage.

Outside of these hours, patients and visitors can use any designated car park, excluding drop zones.

Enforcement will be retained for blue badge parking and traffic management (double red/yellow lines, yellow hatched areas, etc.).

I’m a Blue Badge holder. Where can I park?

There are a number of Blue Badge spaces across the hospital site. The majority of spaces are located within Car Park 9a (multi-storey car park).

How long can I park for?

Our patient and visitor car parks allow for 4 hours of free parking between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. This restriction is not enforced outside of these hours.

What if I need to extend my parking?

Patients and visitors can extend their stay by a further two hours by entering their vehicle registration details into one of the touch screen parking terminal. Parking terminals are located within the hospital reception area and within many departments

Ensure you do this within your six hour stay.

If you require a longer stay or have any questions, please speak to a member of staff or contact the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Parking Office for assistance.

What if I’m attending the Emergency Unit?

Patients attending the Emergency Unit have up to 24 hours free parking from arrival in the car park. Please use the terminal in this department either on arrival or prior to departure in order to obtain a virtual permit.

What if I’m attending the Delivery Suite?

Patients attending the Delivery Suite in Maternity, Obstetrics and Gynaecology have up to 48 hours free parking from arrival in the car park. Please use the terminal in this department either on arrival or prior to departure in order to obtain a virtual permit.

Patients and visitors parking in car park 15b must register their vehicle on arrival using a terminal in either Monmouth House or Glamorgan House nearby.

What do I do If I’ve received a Parking Charge Notice?

Parking at UHW is free for patients and visitors, however, there are restrictions in place and parking charge notices will be issued for failure to comply. Our car parks are managed by ParkingEye. If you do receive a parking charge notice and wish to appeal to ParkingEye, you can do so by following the instructions on the notice itself.

Where can staff park?

If you are a member of staff and you wish to park on site, you must to apply for a permit. If you are issued with a permit, this does not guarantee you a parking space on site.

Staff must park in staff car parks as designated by their permit. View our staff car park map here.

I’m a student, can I park on site?

We do not issue parking permits to students for UHW and would ask that students do not park in patient/visitor parking.
