If you have a long-term (chronic) condition such as diabetes, asthma or epilepsy, it’s important that you are register with a GP practice in Cardiff as soon as possible to ensure you continue receive the care you need.
When registering with a GP practice, bring any recent medical history relating to allergies, medication, vital statistics, lifestyle choices or any diagnosis or ongoing treatment.
It’s also advised that new students reach out to their university in advance if any adjustments need to be put in place upon arrival.
Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is extra support on top of your other student finance and can be used to pay for study-related costs such as equipment, non-medical help, travel and photocopying and printing.

If you have an NHS diagnosis for ADHD and currently take prescribed medication from your GP, you should contact your GP in the first instance. They will either be able to prescribe themselves or will be able to refer you to mental health services and you will be able to continue receiving prescription medication.
If you are currently on a waiting list for an assessment or have a diagnosis from a private healthcare provider, you should contact your GP. If it is clinically appropriate, they can refer you to mental health services for an assessment for ADHD.
