What to expect after your operation

After your operation you will be taken into recovery. This is where you will come round from your anaesthetic. Once you are awake and your pain is controlled you will be brought back to the ward, here you will continue your recovery.

Once on the ward you will have observations taken periodically, be given something to eat and drink and pain relief as needed.

Once you are able to go home your nurse will go through your post operative information (when you can next take pain relief, how long dressings need to stay on, what stitches you have etc.) and you can ask any questions that you may have.

You will be provided with a QR code link to the post operation information leaflets for your procedure and type of anaesthetic. If you would prefer paper copies, please inform the nurse looking after you.

Post-operative information leaflets can be found here.
