I need Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)

Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is a combination of HIV drugs that aims to stop HIV transmission following potential exposure to the virus.

PEP must be taken within 72 hours (three days), ideally within 24 hours of potential exposure.

If you’re worried that you’ve been exposed to HIV through sex in the last 72 hours, please contact us:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm on 02921 835208

We welcome phone calls in Welsh and in English.

Alternatively, you can visit your local Emergency Department to obtain PEP on weekends, out of hours and Bank Holidays.

A member of our admin team will take your details and a clinician will call you back as soon as possible to assess your risk of HIV exposure. If we think you will benefit from PEP, we will book you an appointment.

Can't Pass It On

If your partner is HIV positive, on treatment and undetectable, they cannot pass HIV on to you. This is known as "Can't Pass It On" or "Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)". You can read more here.
