Participate

‘Participate’ is our approach to increasing awareness of research being conducted in Cardiff and Vale UHB, that service users may be interested in getting involved in.

From time to time you may receive a letter about research that you might like to take part in. If you are provided with information, this does not mean you necessarily have to take part. It is up to you if you want to take part in research and if you want to receive information about different opportunities.

Why is Research Important?

Research can help us better understand the causes of mental health and help us improve treatments, care and interventions delivered within mental health services in the UK and internationally.

Taking part in research may not provide immediate benefits. However, you can become part of a wider research community helping to make things better in future for many people using mental health services.

We would like to offer everyone who uses mental health secondary care services the opportunity to hear about research that is happening in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

What do I do if I don't want to Participate?

If you do not want to hear about research opportunities, it is easy to let the ‘Participate’ team know. You can do this by;

  • Complete the online opt-out form
  • Reaching the Participate team by email participate.cav@wales.nhs.uk
  • Telling a member of your care team
