Referral Process
Inclusion Criteria:
- Adults 18+
- Clinically diagnosed Acquired Brain Injury. This includes:
- Traumatic Brain Injury (e.g. fall, accident, assault)
- Sub-Arachnoid Haemorrhage
- Hypoxic Brain Injury
- Tumours (Excludes Rapidly Progressing and High Grade)
- Encephalitis/ other Infective Conditions
- Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM)
- Acquired brain injury has occurred within the last 5 years
- Brain injury is the primary need
- If the individual has other needs which have greater priority (e.g. Substance Misuse or Mental Health) we would request that they are referred for their Primary difficulty first
- Has Identified Rehab Goals and are willing/able to engage in rehab
- NB we do provide a monitoring service for those Individuals with Severe Brain Injury who have Long-Term maintenance needs as a result of their Brain Injury, rather than requiring active rehabilitation)
- Needs a Team Approach (rather than input from a single therapy only)
- Medically Stable
Exclusion Criteria
- Stroke
- Degenerative conditions
- Individuals with concussion/post concussion symptoms
- This requires a different type of input
- We do not see individuals who reside in Residential or Nursing Homes
- We do not offer a Crisis or Rapid Response Service

- Headway
