Health Screening for Asylum Seekers

This service provides access to a health assessment, public health screening and a limited primary care service for individuals seeking asylum, who are in the initial stages of the Home Office assessment process and supported under section 98 of the Immigration and Asylum Act (1999).  Once an individual is given section 95 support (of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999) by  the Home Office, they are moved to more permanent accommodation and are eligible to register with a GP practice. At certain points during the asylum journey, individuals may face frequent changes of accommodation and destitution making registration with a GP practice difficult. CAVHIS aims to support these individuals with their health needs during this very vulnerable time.
