Executive Director of Therapies & Health Science

Dr Fiona Jenkins is Executive Director for Therapies and Health Science in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Fiona is a physiotherapist with significant clinical, managerial and leadership experience. She joined Cardiff and Vale UHB in 2010 as Executive Director for Therapies and Health Sciences.
 
Fiona has a PhD focussed on NHS Management and completed the INSEAD NHS / Leadership Centre Clinical Strategists’ Programme. She also holds an MA (Distinction) in Management (Exeter University). Fiona is also a Companion of the Institute of Healthcare Management. She was awarded a Fellowship of the CSP for her services to management and is a former CSP Council member.  She has both led, and been involved with, a large number of service innovations.

Her Executive portfolio includes:

National lead roles: Chair Eye Care steering group and SRO Eye Care digitisation programme, Chair Stroke Implementation Group, Chair Respiratory Health Improvement group, Chair Director of Therapies and Health Science Peer group.

Cardiff and Vale UHB lead roles: Armed Forces Champion, and Chair Cardiff and Vale Armed forces forum. Executive lead for: Rehabilitation, Stroke, Eye Care, Falls, Learning Disabilities, Medical Equipment, Decontamination, Nutrition.

Fiona is also particularly interested in developing health and social care integration and ensuring the delivery of care in primary and community settings. In addition, Fiona is accountable for professionally leading the 1,800 Allied Health Professional and Healthcare Scientists in the organisation.

Fiona lectures both nationally and internationally. She is also co-editor of a series of five management books: “The Allied Health Professions Essential Guides” as well as “Safe and Effective Staffing in the AHPs”.
