At the end of 2020 the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board supported a proposal from the Employee Health and Wellbeing Service for a team to focus purely on the health and wellbeing of staff by identifying proactive interventions to support every individual of the circa15,000 staff members. The posts were funded by the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity thanks to a generous donation from Gareth and Emma Bale.
The Health Intervention Team was created in April 2021 on a two-year fixed term basis to undertake research and consultation of staff and to thus generate a report of recommendations of the primary contributing factors to the wellbeing of staff across the UHB. This report aimed to inform and highlight the key impacts on wellbeing specifically to CAV UHB, whilst drawing on external insight and data to support the findings.
