Apprenticeship Academy

In Cardiff and Vale UHB we are keen to create a culture where opportunities for people to develop their skills, experience, education and qualifications are explored.  We want to provide education and work pathways which can be flexible and suit people who want to add value to the organisation through learning and working on the job.

We see apprenticeships as an opportunity to meet this aim through maximising the potential of our workforce by engaging with our experienced staff, so that they pass on their skills and experiences to others and support learning opportunities at all levels. Our aim is to ensure our staff are skilled to provide the very best patient centred services.

We intend to grow apprenticeship opportunities over the next 3 years in traditional areas such as estates and crafts and also to broaden to our essential support functions of housekeeping, catering, IT, HR and Finance; as well as to support clinical areas in nursing, clinical administration and central servicing areas.

Apprenticeships are a crucial way to develop our current and future workforce to ensure they are capable and competent in their role to ensure “we care for people and keep people well”.

We have pledged our support to the Cardiff Commitment initiative, supporting our colleagues in Cardiff Council to to ensure that all young people in the city eventually secure a job that enables them to reach their full potential whilst contributing to the economic growth of the city.

For further information regardng the Apprenticeship Academy and to talk through the opportunities that we have available please contact Emma Bendle.
