Children and Women's Services

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology service provides a tertiary (specialised care) service for women with specialist needs in fetal/maternal medicine and it is a regional centre for oncology. A community midwifery service is also provided in some local health clinics providing family planning services.

Current Service Status:

  • Most services are currently running at full capacity; however, our Health Board continues to face extreme pressures across services which includes maternity.
  • Our midwifery lead unit is open, this is being reviewed daily.
  • Home birthing services are currently suspended with the situation being reviewing weekly.
  • A mixture of face-to-face, virtual and/or telephone appointments are being offered to patients.
