Dr Claire Beynon

Executive Director of Public Health

Claire was appointed as Executive Director of Public Health for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in December 2023.

Claire has worked in the NHS in the UK for more than fifteen years in a variety of senior roles across the UK. Claire completed her PhD in child obesity and Master’s in Public Health from Cardiff University and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University with a particular interest in leadership and management.

Claire also has an MSc in Sport and Exercise Science and is passionate about reducing childhood obesity in the UK and has published several journal articles on this topic.

Claire has been a Consultant in Public Health in a variety of roles in Wales and and works closely with partners from across the region to improve the health and well-being of the local population and reduce health inequalities.
