Benchmarking is the process of comparing one organisation’s processes and performance data with other similar organisations' performance and/or against recognised best practice.

Cardiff and Vale UHB undertakes regular benchmarking exercises across the National Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA) member organisations to determine best practice throughout the patient’s treatment pathway.  We do this in two ways:

  • collating data from the member organisations themselves on a quarterly basis, and;
  • comparing data from within the National Health Evaluation Data toolkit.

The benchmarking looks at the patient's pathway from the point of referral to their discharge from hospital.

This web resource allows users to view the benchmarking data which we collect and analyse from across the NOA Organisations, as well as linking to in-depth studies of overall best practice.
