Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP) tests measure how quickly a nerve is working. Discs are applied to the head and pads are placed on the skin surface of the arms and/or legs. The nerves are then stimulated. This feels like a tapping or tingling sensation.
There are no after effects from the test.
It is important that your hair is clean and free of dressing or other cosmetics. Please wear loose clothing to allow access to ankles, wrists and shoulders. Please do not wear an excessive amount of rings/jewellery as they may have to be removed for the test.
Please continue with your usual medication.
The arc test involves looking at one object and responding to a second, moving object to draw a map of your vision. An eye patch is used so each eye can be mapped separately. If you wear spectacles, please bring them with you.
This test measures the strength of various muscle groups. It takes approximately 30 minutes. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for light exercise.
