Referring into the NET Service

Due to the nature of NETs, 90% of patients are diagnosed by Gastroenterologists or Surgeons after referral to them by GPs. Sometimes, patients are diagnosed during an emergency admission. Diagnosis is usually made after a biopsy or surgical procedure.

Patients with confirmed or suspected NETs are referred to the NET service by a local health board’s clinical team to the NET multidisciplinary team (MDT), completing a proforma via the MDT coordinator, clinical lead, or core member of the NET MDT. Patients from North Wales are referred into the Liverpool NET centre.
