Your antenatal care starts when you have found out you are pregnant and have filled in the online pregnancy referral form to notify your midwife.
If you have a medical condition/problem unrelated to pregnancy please visit your GP as normal.
A comprehensive booking discussion will take place and will look at whether your care can be Midwifery Led or Obstetric Led. If an appointment to see a doctor is required your midwife will explain the reasons why.
Blood Pressure CO Monitoring and Urinalysis (testing of urine) will also take place. Your community midwife will also contact either the University Hospital of Wales or University Hospital Llandough, dependent on where you live, and book an appointment at the hospital where you will be offered antenatal screening which includes a dating scan.

You will be offered an anomaly scan which looks at the structure of your baby. This appointment takes place in our main ultrasound department, not within maternity.
