The Cardiff and Vale Integrated Autism Service (IAS) is a multi-agency specialist autism service with staff from health and local authority. The service has been set up following the provision of funding from The Welsh Government to develop Integrated Autism Services across Wales. The service links closely with other local organisations, and the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) strategy Project Lead for Cardiff and Vale.
Our two overarching roles are:
To liaise with mainstream services to increase their skills in working with autistic people
and
To offer diagnostic and support services to autistic people and their carers whose needs would not otherwise be met by other services.
There are a number of workshops and groups that we are offering along with the post diagnostic group. These are being offered virtually and face to face where appropriate.
We offer diagnostic assessments of autism for adults. We do not offer assessments for other neurodevelopmental conditions or mental health conditions. Please read the information on this site about diagnostic assessments and consider whether a referral is warranted.
Please note that our current waiting list for a full diagnostic assessment is approximately 20 months (September 2022). We are very sorry about this lengthy wait; we recognise that it is disappointing and frustrating. From September 1st 2022, we will be offering a triage clinic, please see information on the page about diagnostic assessments.
Please note that the IAS may not be able to respond to queries about when you can expect to be seen. If you need any support while you are waiting, for example, support with anxiety or low mood, then please speak to your GP so that you can be referred to the appropriate service.
