Integrated Autism Services

Integrated Autism Service Logo

The Cardiff and Vale Integrated Autism Service (IAS) is a specialist multi-agency team of professionals who work together and link closely with other local organisations.

Our two overarching roles are:

  • To liaise with mainstream services to increase their skills in working with autistic people

and

  • To offer diagnostic and support services to autistic people and their carers whose needs would not otherwise be met by other services.

Group Support

There are a number of groups we hope to offer again alongside our Post - Diagnostic Group which is taking place  virtually. We hope to offer some face to face options for groups very soon.

Diagnostic Assessments

We are still accepting referrals for autism diagnostic assessments, but please read the information on this site about diagnostic assessments and consider whether a referral is warranted. We are now completing face-to-face diagnostic assessments but regularly review the situation.

Please note that our current waiting list for diagnostic assessments has now increased to more than 20 months (May 2022) and may continue to increase. We are very sorry about this lengthy wait; we recognise that it is disappointing and frustrating. Please note that the IAS may not be able to respond to queries about when you can expect to be seen. If you need any support while you are waiting, for example, support with anxiety or low mood, then please speak to your GP so that you can be referred to the appropriate service.

The Cardiff and Vale Integrated Autism Service (IAS) is a multi-agency specialist autism service with staff from health and local authority. The service has been set up following the provision of funding from The Welsh Government to develop Integrated Autism Services across Wales. The service links closely with other local organisations, and the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) strategy Project Lead for Cardiff and Vale.

Our two overarching roles are: to liaise with mainstream services to increase their skills in working with people with autism; and to offer diagnostic and preventative treatment services to people with ASD and their carers whose needs would not otherwise be met by other services.
