This one-day foundation course aims to enhance the skills of health professionals who refer to the Artificial Limb and Appliance Service (ALAS) for standard wheeled mobility provision, and those who refer to ALAS for assessment.

Who is the course suitable for?

Times are flexible to meet the learning needs of participants, though sufficient numbers of people need to attend for the training day to go ahead.

Course Aims:

  • By the end of the session participants will be able to:
  • Understand the theory & principles underlying postural management with particular reference to pelvic stability. Measure someone accurately for a wheelchair.
  • Complete the referral form accurately.
  • Understand the processes and systems of ALAS.
  • Recognise and select standard wheelchairs and cushions.
