Significant Pressure on our Emergency Unit - 5th May 2023

As we head into the bank holiday weekend our Emergency Unit is still experiencing unprecedented levels of pressure which is resulting in significant waiting times to be seen by a member of our Emergency Unit team. 

There has been an increase in patients self-presenting with long standing issues that can be managed outside of the emergency unit and hospital.

We would urge the public to continue to help our team by choosing the right service for your needs so our Emergency Unit can support those most in need of emergency care.

If you have an ongoing concern that can wait for a GP appointment, your community pharmacy can help with over-the-counter medication and advice in the meantime.

Your GP is your primary choice for long standing conditions that need reviewing.

If you think you require urgent care, please phone 111 first where your need will be assessed, and a timeslot offered if appropriate.

By accessing the most appropriate service you will support our teams to prioritise and care for the most unwell patients who need us most.
