Older people and pregnant women are being invited to attend RSV vaccine walk-in clinics this July.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a very common viral infection that spreads easily between people and often leads to a nasty cold or mild chest infection.
But in older adults and babies, it can lead to more serious issues such as severe breathing problems, particularly in those who are frail or have other health conditions.
In worst cases, RSV can cause pneumonia (infection of the lungs) or even death.
But the RSV vaccine has been proven to reduce severity of infection and hospitalisation in older people and babies.
The walk-in sessions – available to over 75s and pregnant women from 28 weeks’ gestation - are taking place on the following dates in the following locations.

Victoria Whitchurch, Head of Health Protection and Health Inclusion, said: “RSV is often mistaken for a simple seasonal illness, but for older people and newborn babies it can have very serious consequences. Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalisation and complications, so we strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to take up the offer of a free RSV vaccine."
