Hospital Radio Glamorgan Awards Long‑Serving Volunteer with Honorary Life Membership

8th April 2026

Hospital Radio Glamorgan has awarded honorary life membership to its oldest volunteer, in recognition of his exceptional dedication and longstanding service to the station.

John Webber, who turns 97 in May, continues to volunteer whenever possible and still presents his Sunday evening show, sharing his love of music with listeners across the Health Board.

Since joining the station in 1998, John has played a significant role in the development of Hospital Radio Glamorgan over the past 28 years. During this time, he has also supported and encouraged many volunteers who have joined the station, including his son, Ian.

Chair of Hospital Radio Glamorgan, Jamie Pritchard, said:

“John’s dedication to Hospital Radio Glamorgan is truly remarkable. For nearly three decades he has given his time, experience and passion to the station, while also supporting generations of volunteers and that includes me! He is a much-valued member of our team, and it is only fitting that his contribution is recognised with honorary life membership.”

John is the 11th volunteer in Hospital Radio Glamorgan’s history to receive honorary life membership, an award which recognises an outstanding contribution to the charity.

You can now listen to Hospital Radio Glamorgan on DAB across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as the dedicated app, through smart-speakers, by asking to “Play Hospital Radio Glamorgan” and online at radioglamorgan.com
