First Emergency Department in Wales Goes Live With Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration

The Electronic Prescribing software has safety features built in that make the prescribing and administration of medicines safer and more effective. The system monitors when medicines are due to be administered and the dosage, it also has alerts for allergies and drug interactions.

“I find it’s easy to use and it really makes communication between nurses and doctors, and other staff members, much easier.

I’ve adjusted to it I think... it’s very good!” Gladys, continued.

The roll out is part of the DHCW Digital Medicines Transformation portfolio.

"The implementation of the system has progressed exceptionally well. As the ePMA team, we are delighted to have received such positive feedback and are proud of what we have achieved so far, particularly given the hard work shown by the entire team.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our colleagues at CAV UHB for embracing this significant change. Their patience, adaptability, and professionalism have been instrumental in making this transition a success." said Rhodri Clyburn, Lead Pharmacist for the project.

The project continues it's roll out, with the University Hospital Llandough due to get the system in January.
