Congratulations to our Project SEARCH interns, who recently celebrated their graduation from their supported internship programme at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
Health Board department managers, mentors and colleagues joined interns' parents and carers to celebrate everything they have achieved over the past year.
Project SEARCH is a partnership programme between Cardiff Council, Cardiff Commitment and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The scheme helps young people with learning disabilities and/or autism gain valuable work experience and develop the skills needed for future employment. Interns aged 16 to 19 complete placements across a range of Health Board departments, preparing them for the next step in their careers.
The Project SEARCH team and Health Board Workforce colleagues presented interns with certificates in recognition of their hard work and contributions to the Health Board throughout their internship. Four interns also gave inspiring speeches about the positive impact the programme has had on their lives.
"It was a very emotional day for all and was a true reflection of the huge impact that the programme can have on a young person's life and future," said Amy Moreno-Gray, Supported Internship Service Manager at Cardiff Council.
Some of the interns will remain with the Health Board through further internship opportunities, while others will be taking the next steps towards their future careers.
Thank you to all of our interns, and the Health Board colleagues who have supported them, for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
