Business Continuity Incident due to extreme temperatures - 23rd June 2026

In response to the unprecedented temperatures forecast across the region, the Health Board has taken early and proactive action by activating business continuity arrangements to help manage anticipated pressures across health and care services.

These measures are designed to create additional capacity within the system, support timely patient flow and ensure services remain focused on delivering safe, effective care during this period of extreme weather. The Health Board is working closely with partners across social care, local authorities and other agencies to coordinate the response and support  communities.

The safety and wellbeing of patients, the public and colleagues remain the highest priority. Additional measures have been introduced to support colleagues working in challenging conditions, whilst services remain vigilant in caring for those most vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat.

The Health Board would like to thank colleagues and partners for their continued dedication and professionalism in maintaining essential care and keeping people safe during these exceptional weather conditions.

As temperatures remain exceptionally high, some appointments may need to be postponed to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and colleagues.
