Vice-Chair

Ceri is originally from Neath and was educated at Neath Boys Grammar School, UWIST and Swansea University. Up until July 2020, he was Head of the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University and Professor of Health Economics at Swansea Centre for Health Economics.

He has been an Independent Board member of the Health Education and Improvement Wales Board since its inception, having been a member of the Evans Review that recommended its creation. He was formerly a member of Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board.

He has been Chair of the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group since August 2019, having been a founder member of the Group. He was co-lead of the Review of the appraisal of orphan and ultra-orphan medicines in Wales in 2014. In addition, he was a member of the Bevan Commission and co-authored the publication that initiated the notion of Prudent Healthcare in Wales.

He is currently Emeritus Professor of Health Economics at Swansea University and is an Honorary Professor in Cardiff University School of Medicine. During the course of his career, he has undertaken commissioned work on the evaluation of programmes and interventions for a range of organisations, including governments and NICE, and has authored over 220 publications and secured grant income of over £28 million.
