This programme is mandatory for all new Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) in the health board.  This forms part of the HCSW development framework and supports them in their new role.

Support will be provided throughout the programme by a qualified mentor who will be assigned by the Ward Manager. In addition to this each HCSW will also be assigned a Buddy, who is an experienced HCSW - who will guide them during this period and oversee their progress. Support can also be accessed from the Directorates Professional / Practice Development Nurse. For further information on this programme please refer to the LED prospectus.

Please note - although Healthcare Support Workers attend an induction programme, it will also be necessary for a local induction to be undertaken within their department. Please click here to see further details about local induction.
