The Medical Resourcing & Systems (Previously Medical Workforce) Department is based at Woodland House in Cardiff and provide specialist expertise relating to the recruitment and employment of doctors and dentists employed & on placement throughout the Health Board.
The department actively participates in the development of policies and procedures both within the Health Board and on an All Wales basis where they impact on the medical and dental staff group. We also provide advice and work in collaboration with colleagues in the People & Culture Department (Formally Workforce & Organisational Development) regarding human resources issues connected with doctors and dentists.
The department also has an active role in monitoring accurate information with the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) for UHB employed medical and dental staff which interfaces with the Payroll Department in generating pay records for circa 2,500+ staff. Accurate workforce information is maintained in order to respond to frequent data requests and there is regular audit / review of medical and dental staff data - fixed-term contracts, vacancy data, limited-term visas, summary job plan data, interface with the Health Education and Improvement Wales ‘Intrepid’ data systems etc.
