How do I access dental care in Cardiff?

If you would like to register with an NHS dentist in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, you can join the Dental Access Portal.

If you are eligible and you apply, you will be contacted when a suitable place at an NHS dentist in your area becomes available.

Please be aware there is currently a 2-year waiting list (June 2025).

If you are experiencing dental pain and are registered with a local dental practice, you should contact your dentist to get an appointment.

If you need urgent dental care and are not registered with a local dental practice, or if you require urgent care out of hours, the Emergency Dental Helpline can be contacted on 0300 10 20 247.
