I would like contraception

If you are under 18, we have a dedicated drop-in clinic where all contraception methods are available:

Tuesdays 2 pm – 5 pm in ground floor Department of Sexual Health, Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Newport Road, Cardiff, CF24 0SZ

Thursdays 3 pm – 5 pm in Broad Street Clinic, Barry, CF62 7AL

 

Contraceptive pill

The contraceptive pill is available for free in some community pharmacies. You can see if your local pharmacy provides a contraception service by clicking here.

Alternatively, we provide the contraceptive pill (for repeat prescriptions only) in our drop-in clinics on:

Weekdays between 8:30am - 9:00am 

Contraceptive patch or ring*

Contraceptive injection (depo provera / sayana press)

We provide contraceptive injections in our drop-in clinics on:

Tuesdays, 1:00 pm – 3:45 pm in The Department of Sexual Health on the 1st floor reception

Thursdays, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in Broad Street Clinic, Barry
Contraceptive implant or intra-uterine contraception (IUC) *

Please note that we have both male and female clinicians trained in contraceptive procedures. 

Condoms

Please drop into The Department of Sexual Health in Cardiff Royal Infirmary within our opening hours. 

Fertility Awareness Methods (FAMs)

Fertility UK provides some detailed information on FAMs including downloadable charts.

Please note we do not support this method and it is strongly advised to consult with an experienced practitioner if you wish to use FAMs alone as your contraceptive method.
