Liver Surgery

The Cardiff Liver Unit, led by Mr. Nagappan Kumar, provides comprehensive care for patients with liver surgical problems in South Wales. This is the only recognized service for the provision of Liver Surgery in Wales. We provide both emergency and elective care for all liver surgical problems, including liver trauma, liver tumours, bile duct tumours, bile duct injury, benign and malignant conditions of the Gallbladder.

  • Surgery on the bile duct (stones, tumour etc.)
  • Interventional Radiology procedures (Stenting, Chemoembolisation etc.)
  • Multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions for both benign and malignant conditions of the liver

Outpatients Clinic

The outpatient clinic is in Suite 5 at University Hospital of Wales (UHW) every Monday afternoon at 1.45 pm.

Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings

The MDT meeting for cancer takes place at Velindre Hospital every Tuesday at 9.00 am. 

The MDT meeting for benign conditions takes place at UHW every Friday at 12.30 pm.
