Anwen Ward

The Breast Unit comprises of the Breast Centre Clinic and Anwen Ward. The nursing staff you will see work between both areas.

Visiting

Currently we are unable to allow any visitors as Anwen Ward is within the 'COVID Green Zone' of the hospital. The telephone number for Anwen Ward is 02921 824353.

Pre-Admission

Before your admission you will be called for pre-assessment where your history and details will be taken, and any tests required will be performed or arranged. This is currently undertaken in the breast clinic and can take up to 2 hours.

During your Stay

During your stay you will need:

  • toiletries,
  • towel,
  • nightwear- preferably pyjamas with front opening top,
  • underwear- a soft non-wired bra,
  • slippers and dressing gown.

We recommend that jewellery and any other valuable items be left at home, or sent home with relatives.

Going Home

Please ensure you have a supply of paracetamol ready for your discharge. Most patients are usually discharged the day after surgery, but sometimes the same day depending on the surgery. When you are ready to go home you will be given a letter for the District Nurse (if needed), dressings and an outpatient appointment. If you require a sick certificate for your employer, please inform the staff.
