Visiting your relative/friend in the Mortuary

You are usually able to spend time with your loved one on the ward or unit directly after the death has occurred.
 

At the University Hospital of Wales there is a room where you can view your relative or friend, this room is next to the mortuary. This is not always guaranteed and if you want to use the room you will need to ask for an appointment.
 

The normal opening hours are between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday but the preferred viewing times are between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. To make an appointment during office hours please telephone a member of staff at the mortuary and they will arrange a mutually convenient date and time on Tel: 029 2184 4269.
 

For out of hours please telephone: 029 2184 7747 and ask for the member of Switchboard to contact the Site Manager. There are currently no viewing facilities at our other sites, please call the mortuary staff if you require further information. Please be assured that you can also view your loved one once in the care of the funeral director.
