Research and Development

Wales is leading the way in a range of award winning clinical service improvements for patients with FH and Cardiovascular disease. These services offer many opportunities for research and development.

Wales FH Cascade Service R&D Committee

This group oversees and advises on Research and Development aspects of the FH Cascade Testing Service. The function of this committee is to facilitate and co-ordinate R&D projects of high quality.

Our Projects

A range of research and development projects are undertaken by a variety of people including nurses and doctors, clinical scientists, social scientists and geneticists.

We're interested in finding out:

  • How we can better identify FH in families
  • How patients experience FH
  • Whether new drugs are effective for treating FH and tolerable to patients
  • What patients think about our service

The final samples have been sent to the specialist lab for analysis and we hope to report the findings early in 2017.
