When do we contact you and when do you have the right to opt-out?

When we contact you in order to let you know about any appointments you have with us, this is part of our normal business activity. If we wish to communicate directly with you personally about health services which you may wish to receive, we will usually do so by letter sent to the correspondence address we have on file for you. However, we may also contact you via email, telephone or SMS.

An example of this would be us following up on a missed vaccination appointment. We understand you may have been unable to attend a vaccination appointment with us and, in the interests of public health, and your health, we may contact you to offer an alternative appointment date / time if you wish to do so.

A further example is when we contact you to request feedback on UHB services you have received. Your feedback  is important in shaping our services and we may invite you to provide feedback in the form of a survey or questionnaire. We may do this by letter or electronically.

You have the right to object to the processing of your data. The UHB will consider this on a case-by-case basis. For individual patient surveys and questionnaires, the UHB may offer an opt out from further communications regarding that survey or questionnaire.
