What less typical uses of your personal data can happen?

There may also be relatively novel circumstances in which we may need to process your personal data. These uses are non-routine and we still process data within the limits set by the relevant laws. Many patients will never have their data processed for any of these purposes.

These uses will typically result in limited sharing of your information – we will always use / share only the minimum information necessary required to achieve the purpose.

These less-typical uses of personal information include:

·      Supporting NHS counter-fraud operations to prevent, detect and prosecute fraud against the NHS.

·      Protecting public health during outbreaks of disease.

·      Responding to specific legal obligations on the Health Board in relation to your personal data.

·      Assessing and financially charging people who have No Recourse to Public Funds (in some circumstances).

·      Providing information to support properly-constituted inspections and reviews, or to evaluate potential improvements when serious / adverse incidents occur.

·      Supporting colleagues in the criminal justice system to ensure prisoners have effective health care.

·      Providing medical evidence where appropriate to the context of crime prevention and detection. However, this is normally for serious crime only.

·      You may request us to prepare a report for another professional or service, such as writing a report to support an insurance claim.

·      Supporting local authority partners to resettle specific individuals under specific schemes. Examples include those for Afghan nationals and for Ukrainian people fleeing the conflict in that country.
