Your personal data is the information that we keep on paper or in computer systems which is about you. Some personal data is regarded as more sensitive than others and must be protected more securely. All the personal data that relates to your health is treated as more sensitive at all times. This is known as ‘special category data’.
A health professional may process your personal data by doing one or more of the following things:
· Creating a new record of your personal data when they start to work with you.
· Looking at your existing personal data when they work with you.
· Updating your record when they work with you.
· Sharing relevant information about you with other professionals, where the law allows.
Eventually, we will also need to use your data when we prepare to delete it, following legal rules about how long we have to keep your personal data. Information that cannot be used to identify you as an individual is not your personal data.
