Suicide and self-harm are preventable. Every instance of suicide and self harm may be linked to a wide range of personal, community and social factors. There are also large inequalities in suicide and self-harm. All of these issues make suicide and self-harm a priority for organisations working to meet the health and social needs of people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
This strategy sets out those organisations will work together to reduce suicide and self-harm over the next three years.
The strategy describes how organisations across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan will work together to achieve our vision to give the right support at the right time in the right way to everyone at risk of and affected by suicide and self-harm.
The action plan sets out the specific activities we will deliver over the next three years to make the strategy a reality.
The supplementary material describes in detail evidence of the impact of suicide and self harm on the population of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and on particular groups within that population.
We also carried out an Equalities and Health Impact Assessment to make sure the strategy recognises and reflects the needs of everyone in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
