We offer a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and community services to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties throughout Cardiff and the Vale.

Who do we work with?

Speech and Language Therapists work with adults with communication problems and/or eating and swallowing problems associated with:

  • stroke
  • head injury
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • dementia
  • cancer of the head, neck and throat (including laryngectomy)
  • voice problems
  • physical disabilities
  • stammering (dysfluency)
  • mental health conditions
  • other neurological conditions
  • other degenerative conditions

We often work in multidisciplinary teams and work closely with families, carers and others involved with the individual.

There are some therapists in the Department who are able to provide therapy through the medium of Welsh.

Outpatient Services

Our outpatients' clinics are based at University Hospital Llandough, Cardiff Royal Infirmary, and St David's Hospital. To contact us, self-refer, or arrange an appointment, please contact our Outpatients Admin department at University Hospital Llandough:

Inpatient services

Our inpatient services are based across the trust. You can contact our main site for further information, please leave your contact details if you reach the answerphone.

Community Services

These are based within the Community Resources Teams which cover Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Please talk to your GP.
