Patient Education and Guidance

In this section you will be able to see videos and prompt sheets on how to independently manage your home parenteral support as well as maintaining your health and well being. We strongly encourage independence if a person has the ability to do so. If you are unable to do the procedures yourself, a relative may be able to be trained to undertake them for you. This can provide flexibility in when you have your feeds or infusion and this will be discussed with you. Most patients prefer to have the feeds overnight, having the daytime free from infusions. 

Your specialist nurses will be there to guide you throughout your training. You will be issued with a training pack with everything you need to know about your new line and how to become an independent HPS patient.

Our nurses will offer full support whilst in hospital and can adapt any training to meet your individual needs. Don't worry if you are not quite ready on discharge. Our highly skilled homecare nurses will be able to safely continue any training at home. All we ask is you follow procedures and stay well.
