Staff on our Nephrology (kidney) and transplant wards have been the first to use and experience our new electronic prescribing system. This system replaces paper medication charts with digital devices.
The launch is the culmination of months, and years, of work and preparation from multidisciplinary teams across the Health Board.
“We’re so pleased the roll out is underway. I’m excited to see the benefits the system will have for the people we care for, and for our committed workforce here at Cardiff and Vale UHB.” Said Elaine Lewis, ePMA Programme Lead.
This new ‘Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration’ (ePMA) system improves processes for our patients and staff and will be rolled out, ward by ward, over the coming months.
Congratulations to Megan B, the first nursing staff member to give a medicine using the system!
If you’re in hospital, visiting or working, you will see our hospital colleagues using digital devices instead of paper charts as part of their day to day work, but your experience, should be unaffected.
You can spot our ePMA colleagues by their yellow polo shirts. They will be happy to answer questions about electronic prescribing.
