NHS Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

On Wednesday July 5th the National Health Service (NHS) reaches a significant milestone in celebrating 75 years since its conception.

To commemorate this special occasion, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will be hosting a series of promotional activities over the course of the week; shining a spotlight on key achievements and honouring colleagues past and present who have worked for the organisation and contributed to the health and wellbeing of our patients and local population.

Here are just some of the many features to look forward to:

A video montage featuring colleagues from across the Health Board and a well-known famous comedian!
3 local choirs will be performing at CRI, UHL and UHW on Weds, 5th. Join Tenovus at 1pm at the Chapel in CRI, ‘Live Music Now’ from 12:30-13:30 at UHL (outside Hearth Gallery) and UHW Concourse, plus a special online performance by the Military Wives Choir.
Launch of a brand new legacy page ‘NHS through the Years’ which will be the new home to house a digital gallery of archived photos dating back to 1948.
A video with Chief Executive Officer Suzanne Rankin and Cardiff and Vale UHB Chair Charles Janczewski.
Masters students from the University of South Wales will be debuting a bespoke project, ‘Medical Mayhem’ to benefit patients and staff within Mental Health Services for Older People at University Hospital Llandough.
An exclusive look at Geraint’s Dawns Bywyd (The Dance of Life) installation which has recently been unveiled at UHL, and was commissioned specifically for the NHS 75 celebrations.
Donna Crimmins, Ward Sister working at critical care/long term ventilation will be doing a reading at the NHS 75 event at the Church of the Resurrection in Ely.
ITV Wales News will be broadcasting the 6 o’clock news exclusively from UHW to mark the occasion.
‘Nominate for a Portrait’ winners announced on Monday, 3rd.
